Considering that "Calvin A. Durham" is age 3 in the 1880 Census for Pickens County, South Carolina - I have chosen to go with "26 Dec 1877". In the 1930 Census for Spartanburg County, South Carolina (Spartanburg - District 63), Calvin Thompson, age 14, is listed as "grand-son" in the household of Agustus and Amanda Durham.
