Juanita, I have listed in my Durham Index a Matilda T. DURHAM,(b 17 Jan 1815
Spartensgurg Co. SC - d 30 Jul 1901 Cobb Co. GA ) the daughter of George Durham
(1778 -1852) and Suzan Hyde. I'm not convinced that this is the Matilda you are
looking for. I have her married to Andrew Cohen Hoy on 19 Oct 1843 in Cobb Co.
GA. She could have been married previously to your John Morris.She would have
been 28 when she married Hoy. I have no Hoy children listed. Let me know if this
fits.

A woman of remarkable intelligence and talents -- a most colorful personality,
she wrote interesting articles for the religious papers of the day, being noted
for the witty repartee that characterized her work. She was an outstanding music
teacher and composer of music, some of her songs being On Jordan's Stormy Banks,
Heavenly Treasure and Star of Columbia.
