217. Plumer Pascal "Gabe" DURHAM was born on 1 Apr 1897 in Westminster, Oconee County, SC.8,27,35 He died on 13 Jan 1969 in Pickens County, South Carolina. He died Monday at 9:00 AM in a local hospital at the age of 71 years old.
He was buried in Bethel Presbyterian Church, near Walhalla, Oconee County, SC. Funeral services was conducted at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, at Bethel Presbyterian Church near Walhalla by the Rev. C. L. Letson and the Rev. E. G. Robertson. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were William, Charles and Thomas Durham, Jr., Cowan, Beck and DeWitt Lee.

Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery is located in the Picket Post Community. Turn south off Highway 11 at the Bethel Church sign. The church was established in 1805.
Gabe Durham was married twice. His first wife was Mary Moore and they had no children.

The 1900 Census for Oconee County, South Carolina (Tugaloo - District 74), shows Plumer Durham - born Aug 1897, but the WWI Registration Card shows 1 August 1899. I went with the month and day of the WWI Card and the year from the 1900 Census.

Occupation listed on World War I Registration Card: Mill Operator with Victor Monoghan Mill located in Walhaller, Oconee County, South Carolina.

Plumer Pascal "Gabe" DURHAM and Mary "Mary" MOORE were married. Mary "Mary" MOORE was born in 1902. She died in 1918. She was buried in Cross Roads #2 Baptist Church Cemetery, Cross Road #2, Oconee County, SC. Mary Moore was the first wife of Gabe Durham. She died of the flu when she was 16 years old. She was pregnant and caught the flu from riding on a buckboard in the rain.

Plumer Pascal "Gabe" DURHAM and Julia Cora "Cora" SATTERFIELD were married. They lived in Pickens County, SC. Julia Cora "Cora" SATTERFIELD was born on 30 May 1898 in Oconee County, SC. She died on 8 Nov 1979. She was buried on 10 Nov 1979 in Bethel Presbyterian Church, near Walhalla, Oconee County, SC. Services was held at 2:00 PM Saturday by Robinson Funeral Home. She lived Route 1, Zion Community. Cora was Gabe Durham's 2nd wife. Her obit states she had nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren at the time of her death at age 81. John Chester "John" DURHAM was born on 25 Mar 1935 in Oconee County, SC. He died on 7 Jul 2001 in Easley, Pickens County, SC. He died Saturday at his home at the age of 66 years old.
He was buried on 9 Jul 2001 in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Highway 8 near Pickens, Pickens County, SC. Funeral arrangements were made by Robinson Funeral Home, Easley,SC, for a Monday, 2:00 PM service at the funeral chapel per his obituary in the Greenville News on Sunday, 8 JUL 2001, on page 6-B. He was buried on the southwest side of Hwy 8 in the cemetery.
He lived 104 Flagstone Drive in Easley, Pickens County, SC in Jul 2001. He was living and working in Columbia, SC in 1997.

Gladys Elizabeth "Gladys" DURHAM was born about 1923 in Oconee County, SC. She died on 9 Oct 2007 in Rainey Hospice House of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson County, SC. She died Tuesday at the age of 84 years old.
She was buried on 12 Oct 2007 in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Highway 8 near Pickens, Pickens County, SC. Funeral arrangements were made by Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown, for a Friday, 11:00 AM service in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.
