I went with the WWI Registration Card, since Smith Durham is giving the information himself. In the 1920 Census for Essex County, Virginia (Rappahannock - District 44), S. Y. Durham, age 28 and "single", is listed in the household of T. T. (Tally) Durham and wife M. E. (Margaret).
