Charles Samuel Durham is listed in the 1850 Census for Essex County, Virginia as "Charles Durham", age 8, in the household of Nancy Minter and Matilda Minter. Matilda Minter is listed in later censuses as an "Aunt". So I am assuming that a ??? Durham married a "Minter". I have found 2 listings - James married Harriet Minter in 1830 and Elizabeth Minter in 1810, all in Essex County, Virginia. MORE RESEARCH is NEEDED. ((I only place Charles Durham here until more evidence is found.))

In the 1900 Census for Essex County, Virginia (Central - District 24), Matilda Minter, age 80 (b. Dec 1819) and "single", is listed as "Aunt" in the household of Charles S. Durham and wife Mary. There is also a "cousin", Charles Minter, age 15 (b. Aug 1884).

In the 1920 Census for Essex County, Virginia (Central - District 41), Mary B. Durham, age 58 and "widowed" is listed as "mother-in-law" in the household of Robert J. Clark and wife Ida B. (Durham).

In the 1930 Census for Prince George County, Virginia (Bland - District 3), Mary Durham, age 80 and "widowed" is listed as "mother-in-law" in the household of Robert Clark and wife Ida B. (Durham).
