I placed him because of listings at Rootsweb, but the 1880 Census does not show a son to this family born in 1879. More research is needed.

In the 1900 Census for Wayne County, Tennessee (Civil District 1 - District 96), Thomas Durham, age 20 (b. Sept 1879), is listed as "son-in-law" in the household of Esquire Ray and wife, Mary.
