3. James DURHAM was born about 1813 in North Carolina.^1,2,3,4 He died before 1900 in Kentucky.⁵ In the 1880 Census for Muhlenberg County, Kentucky (Courthouse - 87), Mary E. Durham, age 14, is listed as "niece" in the household of James Durham, age 61 (b. ca 1819 NC), and wife, Rebecca (Barnett), age 45.

In the 1900 Census for Hopkins County, Kentucky (Nebo) - Rebecca Durham, age 64 and "widowed" is listed as Head of Household. Rebecca is listed as having 3 children with 3 still living. There is a "Sarah E. Durham, age 6/12 months, listed in the 1870 Census for Muhlenberg who is younger that the "Martha" Durham, who is listed as one of Rebecca's daughters in the 1880 Census for Muhlenberg County. Sarah E. is most likely a child of James and Rebecca Durham.

James DURHAM and Martha Jane (UNKNOWN) were married about 1840 in Kentucky. Martha Jane (UNKNOWN) was born about 1825 in North Carolina.¹ She died on 14 Oct 1859 in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky.⁶ James DURHAM and Martha Jane (UNKNOWN) had the following children:
