I am researching this line.
In the 1900 census for Civil Distric 1 of Humphreys County Tennessee Gus had his 4 year old grandaughter Harriet Newberry living with him. Again she is listed in the 1910 census of the same area age 15. They are living with his son Robert C. Durham. Do you know who her parents were and what happened to them. I can only assume that Harriet(Hattie's) mother was the daughter of Gus and Nancy. I would appreciate any light you can shed on this.

It is obvious that Harriet Newberry is the daughter of one of Gus and Nancy's daughters who married a "Newberry". From the source "Tennessee Marriages, 1851-1900", there is a Charlie Newberry who married Lou Durham on 23 Dec 1894 in Humphreys County, Tennessee. The marriage time is consistent for Harriet, since she would have been born around 1895. Gus and Nancy do show a daughter in 1880, listed as "Minnie L.", age 2. This may be "Lou". I would have to research more. You might try getting a copy of this marriage certificate from the Tennessee. Good luck.

You are correct about the time frame. Harriet was born October 23, 1895. Thanks for the nudge.
