John DURHAM (b. ca, 1830 Ireland); md. Celina COWLES in Waterville, NY in 1866

Billie, I think we have a lead on the parents of Mary S. Cassels who married Wesley Durham. Believe Mary's father was Reverend William Henry Cassels, Methodist minister in Bainbridge, Ga., and read that her mother was Lavinia Daniel. Lavinia was his first wife. His will doesn't name children by first wife...says "I gave all I had to give to the children of my first wife when they married". Some deeds, etc. made by Wm. Henry Cassels in Decatur Co., Ga.,are witnessed by Wesley Durham, so the two of them knew each other. Would like to compare notes.

In the 1880 Census for Baker County, Georgia (District 971 - District 2), Westley Durham, age 68 and "widowed" is listed as "Father-in-Law" in the household of Peter A. Brown and wife Maggie.

Wesley DURHAM and Mary S. CASSELS were married. Mary S. CASSELS (daughter of Rev. William Henry CASSELS and Lavinia DANIEL) was born about 1822 in Georgia.^7,8,18 Wesley DURHAM and Mary S. CASSELS had the following children:

62	i.	William DURHAM was born about 1836 in Georgia.7 This William Durham, b. 1836 may be from a first wife of Wesley Durham. The ages of William and Wesley's wife Mary, appear a little too close together, and William is born several years earlier than the next child - Sarah. I have included William with this family for now. More research is needed.
