The Will of Samuel Faucett was dated 21 April 1847 and proved in May Term 1847
in Orange County, North Carolina. Mentioned in the Will were his wife Elizabeth
[Durham] Faucett, eldest son Thomas [Durham] Faucett, eldest daughter Mary wife
of Allen Edwards, Sarah wife of Charles Howard, youngest son John P. Faucett,
son-in-laws Jesse Durham and George A. Faucett. The son Thomas Faucett and son-in-law
George A. Faucett were named as executors. The Will was witnessed by Henry Andrews.
Dr. George A. Faucett as administrator of the estate paid each of the heirs $1094.66
as their part. Paid were the widow Elizabeth Durham Faucett, Thomas D. Faucett,
C. C. Howard and wife Sarah [Faucett], Allen Edwards and wife Mary [Faucett],
and John P. Faucett. The son-in-law Jesse Durham only received $100 in the Will
as his wife Susannah [Faucett] was deceased. Dr. George A. Faucett also did not
receive a share of the estate since his wife was deceased and there were no children.
The Hillsboro Recorder dated 20 May 1847 contained the following obituary for
Samuel Faucett: "Died at his residence about two miles south of Hillsborough,
on Saturday last, Mr. Samuel Faucett, senr. in the 74th year of his age, after
a protracted illness of many weeks. He has left an aged companion and children
to mourn their loss, and yet to rejoice in his gain, which they firmly hope to
be, in Christ, eternal life. The deceased in early life confessed the Savior,
and connected himself with the Presbyterian Church of New Hope; in which he,
for many years and to his death, sustained the office of Ruling Elder."
