MARY DURHAM CROSSMrs. Mary Durham Cross, 79, of Mossyrock Road in Greensboro,
died Saturday, March 11, 2000, at her residence.The funeral will be held at 2
p.m. Monday, at Alamance Presbyterian Church, by the Rev. Robert Gant. Burial
will follow in the church cemetery.She was born in Guilford County, Aug. 18,
1920, to William Harvey and Myrtle Taylor Durham. Mrs. Cross was a member of
Alamance Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the Ruth Millard Circle.
She served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a nurse at Moses Cone
Hospital for 25 years.Survivors include her husband, Ernest W. Cross Jr. of the
home; one son, William Byam Cross and wife, Eva of Charlotte; two daughters,
Paula Cross Francis and husband, Calvin of Greensboro and Betty Cross and husband,
Robert Hartford of Hillsborough; six grandsons, Brian Cross, Jason and Andrew
Francis, Max and Alex Hartford and Jonathan Caudill; one sister, Sue Durham Chrismon
of Greensboro; and one brother, Paul Carson Durham Sr. of Greensboro.The family
will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, at Hanes- Lineberry North Elm Chapel
and other times, at the home of the daughter, Paula Francis, 3820 Mossyrock Road,
Greensboro.Memorials may be made to Alamance Presbyterian Church, 4000 Presbyterian
Road, Greensboro, NC 27406; or Hospice at Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro,
N.C. 27405.The family wishes to thank the members of the Hospice for their care
and support during her illness.

in Guilford County, North Carolina.3
Ernest Wilder CROSS was born on 10 Feb 1918 in Fitchburg,
Worcester County, Massachusetts.3
He died on 9 Jun 2004 in Guilford County, North Carolina.3 Mr. Ernest Wilder Cross Jr., 85, of Mossyrock Road,
died Tuesday, June 9, 2004, at Moses Cone Hospital.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Alamance Presbyterian
Church Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Gant officiating.
Born March 22, 1919, in Fitchburg, Mass., he was the son of the late Ernest W.
and Margaret Smith Cross. He was a member of Alamance Presbyterian Church and
served in the U.S. Army during WW II.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Roderick Cross.
He is survived by his son, William B. Cross and wife Eva of Charlotte; daughters,
Paula Cross Francis and husband Calvin of Greensboro, Betty Cross and husband
Robert Hartford of Hillsborough; grandsons, Brian Cross, Jason and Andrew Francis,
Max and Alex Hartford and Jonathan Caudill; great-granddaughters, Lexi and Emmy
Cross.The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at Hanes-Lineberry
N. Elm Chapel.
