SENECA, S.C. — Frank Joseph Durham, 75, of 346 Oconee Estates Road, Seneca,
S.C., died Saturday, January 8, 2005 at his home.
He was born in Westminster, S.C. November 15, 1929 and the son of the late, William
David and Omie Burton Durham. He was the loving father of his late daughter,
Denna Durham Stancil. He was also preceded by four brothers, Edward Grady Durham,
Charles Jefferson Durham, William Taylor Durham and Virgil Wright Durham and
one sister, Bertha D. Mealor. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving two tours
of duty in Korea serving as a SGT. Platoon Leader and a recipient of the Purple
Heart. He was a life long resident of Oconee County, retired from Duke Power
with 22 years of service, was blessed with a wonderful bass voice and sang with
many gospel groups through out the area.
He is survived by his wife: Audrey Ann Leatherwood Rackley Durham of the home;
two brothers, Thomas A. Durham of Belton, S.C. and Jerry L.Durham of Seneca,
S.C.; three sisters, Mary D. Huey of Clinton, S.C., Annie Ruth D. Hudgins and
Betty Jo D. Elliott, both of Seneca, S.C. Was also survived by many nieces, nephews,
friends and acquaintances.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at 11:00 AM at the
Brown-Oglesby Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ted Edgar, officiating with burial
to follow in the Oconee Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday
evening January 10, 2005 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
The family will be at the home at other times.
Brown-Oglesby Funeral Home of Seneca, S.C. is in charge of arrangements.
