May 30, 1902 Joseph S. Durham age 72 years died 25th May, 1902 at the home of
his daughter, Mrs. Ida Allen. He was twice elected to the office of County Clerk
and twice to the office of sheriff.

The grand jury of Taylor Co., ......keeping a DISORDERLY HOUSE... and violating
the conditions of their bond as a Tavern Keeper...
On the 1st of March 1860 in the Court aforesaid, while the said J.S. Durham and
Thomas Young were duly appointed and qualified tavern keepers having executed
bond in the county court for Taylor County as is requised? by sureties the said
J. S. Durham and Thomas Young did suffer person to TIFPLE more than was necessary
in this house and did suffer SCASNDOULOUS and DISORDERLY BEHAVIOR in his house
premises.... the great disturbances of the neighborhood.

listed as "Deputy Sheriff".
