Maybe I can help a little. William Henry Durham is also my gg-grandfather. His
wife, Emily was a Fleming, d/o Robert Alexander Fleming. Silas Mercer Durham
is the s/o Samuel Durham and Patsy Wade Reynolds. He was born in Greene
County, Ga. I show his siblings to be Abraham Marshall, Samuel, John Calvin,
Martha, Sarah and Susan.
I don't have any information on Silas' wife. I've seen her name spelled Alvina/Elvina,
Bowles/Booles. In addition to William Henry their children were Susan Matilda,
Alexander, John, Berrien, James, Martha, Sarah and possibly Samuel. Alex, John,
Berry and James were killed in the war. William was wounded at the battle of
Spotsylvania Court House. He died following surgery to remove a minie ball ca
