Franklin Co, William Durham brother reptd. ------------------------------------------- From Ted Williams: August 3, 2011 - Durhams in Gills Creek, Virginia hello bryon,I just got a breakthru on these durhams by accident at a party at burnt chimmey(gills creek).was ask my name and where i was from and my g-father was from gills c. this was giles perdue and his mother was martha durham perdue. she knows more than i do on these durham's. ted durham August 3, 2011 ...Martha knows and has a ton of papers pictures and letters to and from charlotte co,va to ashworth,newcomb,durham. her son owns d. durham farm. ted August 4, 2011 byron, martha said she was born in the log cabin on david durham's farm which her son owns about 700 acres. the old grave yard in the woods my father described is there looking down on gills creek. tombstones made of slabs of rock fill the woods but the letters have worn off over time but later ones provide a direct link to john,jane durham. August 4, 2011 Byron, Martha said we had to be cousins because these were the first durhams in franklin. she even showed me the gravesite north of the farm where my g-grandfather lived with wilson's,and chambers. she said d. durham was a smart lawyer and bought huge acreage by distilling whisky along gills creek and selling it to the gov.she said this is where he got the money to buy the land. August 4, 2011 David Durham, Franklin County, Virginia in ref. to david d. being married she didn't know but thought so since he mentions his son in his will which she has and would give me a copy. d. durham also drew up very elaborate deeds,rep clients,and married lots of folks. i have some copies. August 4, 2011 - Martha Durham Perdue martha's father was james h. durham,g-mother nancy w. durham,g-grandmother mary (polly) a. durham,sister of paulina, dau's. of john and jane. she even pulled out an old 1800 picture of paulina(perlina),mary a.(polly)and a dau. of mary- census 1880 d. durham.
