Mrs. Goens Dies Here Wednesday
Mrs. Letha E. Goens, age fifty-five, a life-long resident of Jackson County,
died at the home, 100 South pine Street, at 7 o'clock Wednesday night. Death
followed ten years' illness with a complication of diseases.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 o'clock Friday morning from the Church
of the Nazarene with the Rev. Stephen G. Johnson, pastor, in charge.
Burial in Riverview Cemtery.
Mrs. Goens was born on October 23, 1884, in Jackson County, the daughter of Jess
and Nancy Goens Durham, both deceased.
She was married on February 17, 1906, in Seymour, to Cleveland Goens, who died
in 1918. During her long residence in this city she made many friends who mourn
her passing.
She is survived by six children; Mrs. Berniece Hill, Mrs. Edith Hill, Miss Mildred
Goens, Kenneth W. Goens, Mrs. Margaret Tankersley and Keith Goens, all of Seymour.
Two brothers, Emil Durham and James Durham and one sister, Mrs. Pearl Robbins,
all of Seymour, and nine grandchildren also survive.

Cleveland T. Goens Dead
Cleveland T. Goens, aged twenty-nine years, died at noon today at his home on
the A. V. Lawell farm, southwest of the city, following an illness with peritontis.
He was born in Jackson County, September 25, 1888, and was the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Louis S. Goens.
He is survived by his widow, his father and six children.
The funeral will be conducted from the residence at 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon.
The body will be taken to the Smallwood Cemetery, four miles west of Brownstown,
for burial.
(The name in the obituary contradicts what I had been told by his daughter, Edith
Stella Goens Hill.)
